Many of my family members have diabetes; and I'm afraid I might have it too.
I have a few of the symptoms, like excessive thirst, tiredness, etc.
I'm getting tested, but I was wondering.
If I do turn out to have it, since I caught it early in life, could I just eat healthier and excercise better to reduce the risk of it getting worse, or me having to take medication for it? Or is that not possible. And if I don't turn out to have it, will that reduce the risk of me getting it? Just curious. I don't know much about it.

What title would you give a cookbook on this subject: Read the details below. C’mon, how creative are you?

Am working on a cookbook that at this point has no title. The collection of recipes focus on sound nutrition for anyone concerned about heart disease, cancer or diabetes and want to eat right to stay healthy. The twist, however, is that this cookbook features recipes that have a French gourmet flavour while at the same time providing sound nutritional ideas to help prevent disease and to stress good eating.

My hands tend to be noticeably shaky if it’s been a while since I’ve eaten. Do most people get this way when hungry?

Also, on occasion I have sweet smelling urine – normally this will happen in the morning or if I’ve been outside working and gotten really hot.

What equipment do diabetics need to manage their condition?

Saturday, February 28th, 2009

I am developing a teaching unit about diabetes for children, and I want to make an activity where students are given items related to diabetes in order to introduce the topic.
I have syringes (no needles), blood glucose meter, diabetic recipe book… does anyone have any further suggestions?
This activity is for children, so I want to focus on the management aspects rather than the medication required. I am trying to detract from the 'sickness' aspect of diabetes.
