Should I get checked for Diabetes, or should I wait??

I've felt crummy for the past 8 years or so. I'm 23 and in the last year have gained about 40 lbs - no change in diet or routine. I'm always tired-sometimes downright exhousted, always feel slightly nauseated, thirsty, lately I've had to pee alot more than I used to, I get flash headaches (gone within 30 seconds) and have heartburn about every other day, to a point I have to pop a couple tums which is losing its effect. My dad is a type II diabetic controlled by pills.

I've gone to the doctore several times because of the way I feel thinking maybe I have mono or something and they always just tell me to take vitamins and excercise. I'm exercising at least every other day now but no change yet.

Should I wait a few more months and see if I begin to feel better?

I feel stupid asking this on Yahoo! Answers but my parents think I'm a hypocondriac (from always trying to figure out why I feel like crap) and I hate going to the doctor…

Ugh, help??
