Type one diabetes? symptoms?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

I’m almost 14 and lately I’ve been really thirsty all the time, always tired, always hungry, and even when I eat a lot I don’t get full and my weight stays the same or goes down by at least 4 lbs. I’ll get up every five minutes all day to get water, and I urinate just as often. My mom doesn’t think it’s anything and she says I don’t need to get it checked, but I think I do. What do I do about that?

And whenever I eat something with a lot of sugar I feel really bad afterwards, like physically. I’ll get a stomach ache no matter how little of it I eat but I wont feel full.

And for some reason I get mad really easily lately. I usually never get mad and when I do I just shrug it off. But lately the smallest things will make me mad. I don’t know if this has anything to do with diabetes, but it started right around when I started getting hungry, tired, and thirsty all the time.

I don’t know the symptoms of diabetes, so that would really be helpful.

How Is It That I Have Outlived Many Of My Friends\Family With Type 1 Diabetes When They Did Everything…?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

…their doctors asked them to do with regards to their diabetic care, while I have been a less than exemplary Type 1 diabetic who follows no care plan, diet, exercise, or monitoring schedules? As a diabetic of 30+ years, I find this a concern because all of the doctors I’ve seen over the years tell me that, by all conclusive evidence and my lack of following the rules, I should have been dead 20 years or more ago, yet I continue to see my friends with Type 1 diabetes who DO what they’re advised to either dropping dead or suffering from diabetic complications like kidney failure, etc.
