1.) How did you control your GDM while you were pregnant (strictly diet, diet and insulin pill, or insulin shot)
2.) How many prenatal visits per week did you have to go to to check on your baby
3.) How many weeks ahead was you baby measuring when you found out you had GDM
4.) Did you doctor induce you before your due date and if so how many weeks before your due date. If not did they let you go the full 40 weeks?
5.) Did you have a natural birth or a c-section
6.) How big was your baby when he/she was born
7.) Did your baby have any complications after delivery (jaundice, hypoglycemia, ect)

When I found out I had GDM at 27 weeks my son was measuring 2 weeks ahead and by 34 weeks he was measuring full term at about 7.5lbs
I controlled my GDM with diet at first but I lost 10lbs and my doctor was concerned so he told me to eat normal and gave me the glyburide insulin pill. I still continued to cut all sugary products from my diet.
My doctor originally planned to induce me at 39 weeks but my son decided to come at 38 weeks instead and I had to have a c-section becuase he was breached
When my son was born he weighed 8lbs and 3oz and 19 inches long. My doctor said had I gone all 40 weeks my son probably would have weighed 10lbs
My son was also born with hypoglycemia a.k.a low blood sugar so he had to be feed every hour right after birth to bring his levels up but he was okay after that.

Please share with me your stories. Thanks.
Doodlestuff, I didn’t ask for your opinion. I asked for facts about your birthing experience and pregnancy with GDM, not preexisting diabetes. Since you haven’t even had your baby yet this pool doesn’t pertain to you. I honestly didn’t want to here your little rant about what a bad doctor I had so keep it to yourself next time. k.

Both my doctor and my mother, an RN with many years of experience, have checked my blood glucose levels and a urine test and everything was just fine. I’m a big guy, and for a while now I’ve been eating healthy high protein low carb foods (5 to 6 small meals per day), getting about 2 hours of daily exercise, drink plenty of water during the day and I’m usually never thirtsy, and getting about 7 hours of sleep a night. I don’t have any symptoms or complications of pre-diabetes and/or diabetes type 1 or 2. I’m not hypoglycemic or hyperglycemic since those are complications of having diabetes. So what’s going on with me? My mother has advised me that it may just be anxiety problems. My doctor told me I’m just fine, but I do need to lose a lot of weight. Usually when I get jittery I eat a fruit or a small high-protein meal and I feel fine about 10-20 minutes later. May it be anxiety problems since I keep thinking in my mind that I’m predisposed to having diabetes?

My mom traveled down to Missouri with her boyfriend so he could receive Chelation Therapy. He’s 76 years old, has had a mild heart attack, and has complications from his diabetes. He convinced my 76 year old mother to have some tests done to see how her health was. Except from slightly elevated cholesterol levels (which we were already aware of) and a slight blockage in one vein, they deemed her healthy. However, they suggested that she, too, have chelation therapy to clean up the vein. They’re also prescribing an assortment of 11 different vitamins to take. My mom has been taking Lipitor for her cholesterol and also medication for osteoarthritis. I guess my question is this. How safe is Chelation? Will this interfere with her other two meds? I know very little about holistic medicine and am very concerned she may get sick from the treatment.

For whatever crazy reason, my husband is obsessed with our next-door neighbor’s 13-year-old daughter. He’s constantly talking about her, calling her, texting her, taking her out to dinner, buying gifts for her, driving her to school, etc.

My husband and I are unable to have children, so initially I thought that I understood his motivations and was completely fine with the whole situation. However, the whole thing is beginning to seem a little unsavory.

I’d ask the girls parents how they feel, but unfortunately the girl’s father died three years ago due to complications from diabetes and the mother is an irresponsible alcoholic. I’ve asked my husband about it directly and he claims that he just feels sorry for her. How can I be sure that my husband’s motivations are entirely altruistic?

My husband and I had a huge fight about life insurance last night. So much so that I am seriously questioning his morals, compassion, and his feelings of caring for me.

Yesterday we received a letter in the mail from our bank, stating that we could get 0K in term life insurance for /month. Right now we are both unemployed due to our companies downsizing, and we both had life insurance policies through our employers that ended when we were laid off. When I saw the ad from the bank, I mentioned it to him and told him I thought it might be a good idea for us to have life insurance without relying on our employers for it. He disagreed and said it would be a waste of /month right now that we need for other things and that he has no reason to have to make sure at our age (37) that his wife is "set for life" in the event of his death. I was blown away by this, not only because I was raised that spouses are supposed to watch out for each other and make sure each is provided for as needed, but also because if he were to die, I have a disease that has already caused me to have to go on disability once in my twenties, and it could happen again, and also because I only earn half what he does. I couldn’t believe he would think that he should take precautions to take care of me. Here is what ensued:

This is not about the money, or me getting some sort of high dollar amount when he dies. It’s about having a sense of morals and responsibility for your beloved spouse and taking care of that person. I tried explaining this to him repeatedly, and he just kept telling me that life insurance is a waste of money at our age and that it is selfish of me to expect him to "set me up for life" once he is dead and gone. I mentioned that there is the possibility that I could easily become unable to work and provide for myself due to my Diabetes and the complications that can come with it, and that even if I am able to work, I make about half what he does and would not be able to continue to pay the bills, etc. He’s always made almost exactly double what I earn. I am astonished at his lack of sensitivity in telling me that I am a "gold digger" and "selfish" because I expect him to feel a sense of responsibility, caring, and compassion towards me enough to WANT to protect me financially in the event of his death. He just doesn’t get it. He keeps telling me that I am trying to take advantage of him and that it’s ridiculous to expect him to want to protect me by having life insurance when we are only in our late 30’s. He says that if he died tomorrow, I would still be able to work and provide for myself, so why should he do it for me by giving me "some huge pay-out to make your life easier"? He says that the money I could get from selling our house (right now we are in the process of looking and have about 0K in savings to put towards a house–this would go to me if we didn’t have a house yet) would cover any debts and funeral expenses. But then where would I live? What if the real estate market is flat at the time he dies and I can’t get enough for the house to cover everything? He says this is not his problem at that point. He also says once he is working again, the life insurance he’ll likely have through his employer should do the job.

This is really not about me having millions of dollars if he were to die. What aggravates me, saddens me, and has me wanting to run to the divorce court is his overall lack of compassion and lack of caring for me that he would basically have a resentful and bitter attitude towards making sure I am cared for in the event of his death. Calling me a "gold digger" because I think life insurance is a good idea? What kind of husband doesn’t want to make sure his wife will be okay under any and all circumstances?! I am his wife, therefore shouldn’t he want to make sure I am taken care of in every way he can? I want to make sure of that for him.

I seriously can’t believe I married such a selfish, cold person! Am I over reacting? Please be direct, I appreciate it!

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/08/us/08sentence.html

This is a serious question, is it possible to justify such a decision using the Bible as a guide?
I am apparently not being clear enough. What I’m trying to learn is, could a Christian with the best possible intentions conclude from the Bible that prayer is enough. No other treatment is needed. Is this biblically correct?
