Questions concerning my IR(insulin resistance) diet and excercise plan?

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

When i started losing weight a few months ago i weighed 333 pounds. Now im down to 295 and people say they see the difference in me. I do have a few questions to ask those of you who know about my condition(or type 2 Diabetes):

1. Is it okay if i have a snack or meal that is high on the GI(glycemic index) sometimes, sort of like treating myself for the good work?
2.Tell me if this excercise plan sounds like im doing enough: i do 100 calories on the treadmill in 5 rounds of 20 calories, 100 reps(also following the cycle of 20), and 40 crunches and i do it almost every day.
3. Is there any way to get rid of the dark patches of skin that come with my IR?

thanks for all of your help =]
Don’t think of my "treat" as candy or something. Like i had some popcorn as my treat . Also, if you know any way of fading the dark without pills that would be great, i don’t really like taking medication

b)exercise, they contribute
c) exercise contribute

the correct answer is C but i dont understand why? explain please?

is the Glucose test optional?

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

I went for my normal blood tests today, and the dr said something about a glucose test later on. Is this optional? Ive researched and it seems unlikely i’ll develop diabetes. My last baby was only 3 years ago, im young, not overweight, ive given up smoking, i eat well and excercise alot and theres no history of diabetes (gestational or otherwise) whatsoever in my family. I’m terrified of blood tests and threw up before hand today, and then fainted in the process. If theres anyway to avoid it, i really would like to. I know it would be in my babys best interests but there never used to be a glucose test and i managed fine, and i dont think i have the guts to go through that again.

This is based in the UK btw so no answers from the states please.

I have type 2 diabetes, under control, but now my blood sugar doesn't seem to go up, even after eating. Why?

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

Before meals, my blood sugar is 80-100. I eat 3-4 carb servings. Lately, I have ‘felt’ that I need to recheck it, before I go out, .5-1hr after eating. Often it’s only 90-110 after that time, and I have to eat more, as my blood sugar is like sand thru an hour glass and keeps going down, unless fed carbs. It should be about 170? As far as I know, nothing has changed in my lifestyle…I have an A1C of 6.1 at my last check up, I excercise 45 mins a day, 5 days a week, and I watch my carb intake…help! Is my diabetes getting worse, somehow?
I take 10 mg Glipizide 2xdaily

I have Graves Disease why am I gaining weight?

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

I was diagnosed about a year ago, I take meds for it (Methimazole). I also have type 2 diabetes I take byetta and Metformin. I eat healthy and I excercise 6 days a week. Yet I continue to gain weight. I have spoken to my doctor and response is oh you must be eating more. Are you kidding me! I do not over eat, I follow a low carb high protein diet. I eat from smaller plates then my family does, I drink water, no sugar etc. I started the p90x exercise program 30 days ago which is an extreme workout program, I gained 12lbs! If it were muscle my clothes would fit differently I can barely button my pants, if at all, This is so frustrating and I am getting no real answers, except I don’t know you HAVE to be eating more, you really need to get the weight off, What more am I supposed to do here?
