You should be fine..this doesn't necessarily mean you will get diabetes and it doesn't mean that you will have complications. Check the link for more information. Don't stress yourself and limit your intake of sugary foods. Your stomach measuring big for 31 weeks doesn't always mean that your baby is bigger than it should be either. I always measure normal or "small", but my babies were both born healthy and average size. The baby changes positions all the time in there. It's really hard for the doctor to actually guage whether or not you are measuring the correct size.

They gave you your test that late?
I thought the gest. diabetes test was to be done around 24-26 or 26-28 weeks.
Did they tell you anything about it?

lol, i am 32 weeks and my dr said she would send me for a follow up test at 135 and i was 131. and i am measuring big too. they say he will be like 8 lbs. she told me ots ok, just watch your sugar and carbs. i have been eating healthier, but no worries...you are probably just having a big baby. i was almost 10 lbs and my mom had me naturally and i was a very skinny kid. so go figure. good luck to you, i am right there with you. but as i said, watch your carbs and sugar...my dr said if you are meant to have a big baby great but if it is because of your sugar/carbs, you can try and control it :o)

Well yes, you need to start watching your sugar intake, if you develop diabetes, it can cause your baby to be very swollen and bloated and fat! Which can harm the baby during delivery or force a c section. Eat a healthy diet, lean meats, lots of veggies and fruits, and exercise! Good Luck

They must do different readings where you live. Here in Australia the acceptable upper limit is 75 and I came in at 74. My OB just said to be careful what I eat and is watching me carefully for swelling.

Please forgive the cut and paste from a previous answer I gave, it's nit just a matter of having a bigger baby.. Please read.

They need to know how seriuos the problem is because of the baby...
After the birth, his blood sugars may fall very rapidly and he may end up needing NICU care to keep him stable. Low blood sugars in babies lead to difficulties maintaining body temperature and breathing. It's very important that you try and comply.
For Riley's sake.
It's like he's been used to your higher than normal blood glucose, so when he's born, your supply will shut off (obviously) and he "crashes". Sudden withdrawal, if you like.

Asker's Comment:
Thank you for your answer and thank you all. Although it seems a bit late, I am going to the diabetic center tomorrow to get started asap. Riley is my first concern... I wasn't thinking GD had this much of an effect on baby. Thank you for helping me.
